Meet The Portuguese Conspiracy!

‘Our mission is to showcase and empower this immense creative potential and, most importantly, to have fun in the process’

WITH PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUNDS as diverse as biology, teaching, fashion, management, design and finance, and aesthetic influences ranging from classical music to progressive metal and indie rock, the shared love for good food, wine and culture brought The Portuguese Conspiracy team together to fill London with the richness of an amazing, vibrant, and dynamic Portuguese contemporary cultural scene. With food and drink at the heart of their enterprise, they share a vision and goal with Taste Portugal 2014/15, and we hope that those interested in our epicurean events might also be interested in theirs – and vice versa.

Set up initially as a Supper Club in Dalston in January 2013, and attracting an international array of 31 guests at their first gathering, the conspirators now run a delicatessen, also based in Dalston, which stocks a diverse selection of Portugal’s best gourmet novelties, alongside traditional bestsellers such as pastéis de nata, and promotes the outstanding diversity, quality and uniqueness of Portuguese wines. They also organise an exciting events programme, including concerts, film sessions, festivals and exhibitions (see below for forthcoming events).

The team is moved by the desire to deliver a positive view of Portugal and its culture and traditions. Despite today’s social and economic hardships, the country is bursting with creativity and a fresh breath of ideas, unique points of view, and artistic manifestations are opening new paths into Portuguese contemporary culture. The Portuguese Conspiracy’s mission is to showcase and empower this immense creative potential and, most importantly, to have fun in the process.

The main funding for the Conspiracy’s events programme comes either from the events themselves, or from the proceedings from the delicatessen, so do drop by, enjoy some fresh and mouth-watering Portuguese produce, and help this creative endeavour continue.
